We hired Ben Express Movers to move us from Maryland to South Carolina. We got an estimate, and decided to hire them. We called three days before the move to update our inventory list as we were asked. The day before the move they called to schedule a time to show up. They showed up right on time the next day. So far, so good. They had a complete list of the items and an updated count of boxes. Apparently, Greg at the office didn't update our list so we wound up owing them an extra 300 dollars when the truck was loaded. We were also told by Greg that they would wrap our mattress... Greg lied. They wanted 30 dollars to wrap it because we didn't. I called Greg and his exact words: "I'm sorry. I was wrong." No one has any idea what is going on, but these are the people giving the estimates. Greg also said we would have delivery in 3 to 5 days. When we talked to the movers they said that was crazy and it would take 7 to 10 days. Once again, called Greg. Once again, "Sorry." It took them 7 days to simply give us a date for delivery. They were supposed to call at 4 to let us know and wound up calling at 8. When the driver called we could not understand a word he was saying. His english was extremely poor. He was having trouble answering our questions because he was having trouble understanding what we were asking him. Same problem when you call the office. If you call dispatch you get middle eastern men who are impossible to understand. Anyway, the driver still couldn't give us a time he'd be showing up the next day. Said he would call us in the morning. Of course he didn't call in the morning and showed up 4 hours late, demanding an additional 50 dollars because there were 15 steps to our second floor bedroom. "We have to follow the contract." The movers stood in the parking lot and waited for my wife to get back with an additional 50 dollars. They would not start even though we had a 900 dollars sitting there for them. Our boxes looked like they'd been to war. Holes in them, sagging. Movers were not wearing shirts and got sweat all over our walls and boxes. Very unprofessional. When everything was in the house I had to supply them with knives to cut the tape off the blankets that our furniture was wrapped in, because their toolbox was "buried in the back of the truck" Instead of cleaning up the tape they left it all over the house, and in a giant pile on the front porch. The foreman said they were leaving. I noticed the trash wasn't picked up, our bed wasn't set up, and the legs were off our tables. I asked him if he was going to reassemble our furniture and he said he didn't do that. He said if he doesn't take it apart, he doesn't put it together. I explained to him that the foreman who picked up our things took all the legs off our tables. He still insisted it wasn't his job. We literally had to chase him to his truck and show him the contract that stated it was his job. Funny how this man knew the contract well enough to charge us the extra 50 dollars right away, but was completely ignorant of his responsibility. When he was shown the contract, he said he'd do it, but he'd need MY tools because his were buried. I told them to get lost and I'd be talking to the company. In the end, the move cost and additional 350 dollars, our stuff was beat up (some things broken), they were late, rude, unprofessional, left piles of trash all through our house, and tried to get away with not finishing their job (they did get off the hook anyway) DO NOT USE BEN EXPRESS MOVERS!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!
