Whatever you do, stay away from New Times Moving and Statewide Relocation I think it`s quite obvious that all of the 5 star reviews on here are fake. My experience started pleasantly enough when I talked to Tim to receive my quote. He was very friendly and went over my inventory with me. I listed all of my furniture and also said I would need to have my TV and some pictures packed since I couldn`t fit them in a box. He then gave me a binding quote of $1650 and said that the price wouldn`t change as long as my inventory stayed the same. The price was better than any other quote I received, so I decided to go with New Times Moving, but I should`ve known the price was probably too good to be true. Once I finished packing everything, I had a few extra boxes so I called New Times Moving back to update my inventory. By this time, I was talking with the bipolar Barbie who said it was no problem to update my inventory, but my cubic footage increased slightly so my new estimate was $1818. Okay, no big deal. The trouble started when the movers showed up. First of all, I didn`t have much stuff to move but they managed to take 5 hours to do the move knowing that I needed to get on the road (they showed up a day late by the way). The truck driver started having me sign the paperwork and then calculated the cost of the move which came out to $2700 This is when they have you. It would cost an additional $1000 to have my stuff pulled off the truck, so I was left with no other choice but to continue with the move. I only had to pay half of the total up-front, so I figured I could talk with the company and get everything straightened out before paying the rest. When I called Barbie to tell her what happened she jumps on me like I`m trying to cheat the company. I explain how my original quote wasn`t accurate and I expect them to honor that quote, but she says it is my problem and not theirs. If I don`t pay the fee, then they won`t deliver my stuff and will just auction it off. After talking with Barbie several times, she says the company has agreed to take off $150. I wasn`t pleased with this ``discount`` but I said I would accept it anyway. Well, in order to receive the ``discount`` they faxed me a settlement form to sign saying that I could take no legal action against the company. If that wasn`t bad enough, the form also says that I, as well as any friends or family acting on my behalf, cannot post any reviews online or make any complaints against New Times Moving. Talk about a scam. I received some consolation in the end when the driver admitted that he has had to deal with this a lot in the past and he`s the one left to confront the customers face-to-face. Of course, he`s going along with what the company is trying to pull, but it was at least nice to hear him admit how the company isn`t transparent with their charges. In the end, save yourself from the headache and robbery that I experienced and choose a different moving company.
